Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, Inc. of Kingstree, SC announces the passing of Mr. Theodore "Tan" Chandler, age 73, who died Wednesday, February 06, 2013, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence, SC. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 12, 2013, St. James Baptist Church, Coleman Road, Greeleyville, SC. Rev. Albert Rose, Jr., pastor, presiding and Rev. John Henry Kennedy(brother-in-law), officiating. The interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery. On April 15, 1939, Mr. Theodore Chandler affectionately known as "Tan and Pappy" began his dash. Theodore was born in Greeleyville, SC to the late Josh and Ellen Chandler Sr. One brother (George) and two sisters (Olivia West and Virginia Nelson) and a grandchild (Marquita Dupree) preceded him in death. Theodore received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. His work experience required talent and skills such as a farmer, machine operator and pit master (Winner for Bar-B-Que Sauce). Theodore accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior some time ago and he became a member of St. James Baptist Church in Greeleyville, South Carolina. Theodore was united in Holy matrimony to the late Charlena Kennedy Chandler. Loved ones left to carry on his legacy and cherish his memories are: three daughters, Wanda (Frank) Dixon of Palm Bay, FL; Martina Chandler and Minister Millicent (Samuel) Jackson of Greeleyville, SC; an adoptive daughter Carethea (James) Dupree of Manning, SC; two sons, Kennith Chandler of the home and Kevin (Janice) Chandler of Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren: Travis Dixon of Daytona Beach, FL; Lakeisha (Ivor) Richardson of Orlando, FL; Latoya Dixon of Ashvurn, VA; Winiferd Dupree of Manning, SC; Amerintha (Larry) of Lolo, MT; Courtney Gathers of Dalton, GA; Chasity (John) Young of Atlanta, GA; Charlese (Trevor) Jackson of Greeleyville, SC; two grandchildren he reared as his own Laticia and Natosha Chandler of Greeleyville, SC; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Josh Chandler, Jr. of Greeleyville, SC and Herbert Chandler Sr. of Detroit, MI; four sisters: Geneva (Levan) Rogers of Columbia, SC; Florene Chapman of Troy, NY; Sadie (Theodore) Williams Sr. of Troy, NY; Hattie (Fred) Baker of Greeleyville, SC; one brother-in-law: Rev. John Henry (Thelma) Kennedy of Greeleyville, SC and one sister in-law: Mary Alice (Francis) Rollerson of Fayetteville, North Carolina. A special friend dear to him like a son: Don Dennis of Greeleyville, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family members are receiving friend at the home, 260 Pine Tree Street, Greeleyville, SC.
